Social Metadata
The RLG Partners Social Metadata Working Group is looking at the diverse range of user contributions that can enrich the descriptive metadata created by libraries, archives, and museums and analyzing the issues that need to be resolved to communicate and share user contributions on the network level. Metadata is defined as data that:
Social metadata sites may include any of the following types of user contributions: tagging, comments or annotations, reviews, images, videos, articles, links, recommendations or ratings, bookmarks, etc. The list of sites that the working group has reviewed thus far is under the "Documents" tab, with hot links so that you can look at them youself. If you know of other social metadata sites not on this list, please feel free to suggest them either as comments to the document or in the discussion tab! Questions about the working group's efforts can be addressed to Karen Smith-Yoshimura at smithyok@oclc.org.
